About Gilbert:
Dr. Leidig has been a dedicated member of Cardiology Physicians, PA since 1996. He joined the practice after completing his Interventional Cardiology fellowship at Harvard University’s Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Prior to that, he served as Chief of Cardiology at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he held the rank of Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and was attached to the 82nd Airborne Division. During his distinguished military service, he earned both the Expert Field Medical Badge and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Dr. Leidig is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and an alumnus of Mount St. Joseph High School and Loyola College Maryland, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was inducted into the National Jesuit Honor Society. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he was recognized as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society.
Board certified in both Internal Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology, Dr. Leidig brings extensive experience to his patients, with a special interest in Radial Artery Heart Catheterization and Coronary Stenting. He cares for individuals with a wide range of cardiac conditions and is known for his precise, patient-focused approach to interventional and consultative cardiology.
Dr. Leidig met his wife, Lieutenant Meaghen Flanagan of the Army Nurse Corps, while serving at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. They were married in 1985 at Holy Trinity Catholic Chapel at West Point, where they were stationed for three years. Together, they have four children—Andrew (born at Walter Reed), Patrick and Farrell (born at West Point), and Molly Meaghen (born at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston)—and are proud grandparents to John, Vivian, and Palmer.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Leidig enjoys time with his family at their beach house in South Bethany, Delaware, where they engage in corn toss tournaments, beach games, golf, birding, and competitive music trivia. He is an active member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Hockessin, Delaware, serving as a lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, and a participant in the Cornerstone men’s retreat program.
His personal interests include running, swimming, photography, American history, gardening, and collecting coins and stamps—a testament to his deep curiosity and appreciation for both science and culture
On September 4, 2020, I decided to detail my daily conversation with God as guided and inspired by His angels. I will relate to you in real time, each day, how God's angels revealed Him to me. I hope that after our one month together, you will have an ongoing daily experience of God through His angels that will build on each other, increasing your love for Him by loving one another and more fully embracing His creation.
